KANGAR, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) recorded RM1.7 million in transactions through 118 Agro MADANI Sales programmes involving 250 entrepreneurs, with consumer cost-of-living savings amounting to RM550,000 as of today.
Its director, Mohd Anzara Azizan said the sales were carried out through 30 FAMA marketing outlets in the state, including the Farmers' Markets, Agrobazaar Rakyat, Agrobazaar Kedai Rakyat and Fresh Fruit Stalls (GBBS).
"This initiative not only expands public access to fresh products at affordable prices but also provides opportunities for agropreneurs to boost their income," he told reporters after launching the Agro MADANI Merdeka Sales Programme at the Dataran ABC MAIPs Farmers' Market here today.
A total of 150 MADANI Merdeka Special Combo Sales packs, consisting of one kilogramme of sugar, eggs, and a packet of cooking oil, priced at only RM6 each, were offered to consumers and were sold out within half an hour of the launch.
Mohd Anzara also said that the programme, held in conjunction with the National Month celebrations to foster patriotic spirit, will run from today until Aug 31 at selected locations in Perlis.
"This initiative is being carried out to further fuel the patriotic spirit among FAMA entrepreneurs and the community, while also providing affordable essential goods for consumers," he added.
