TELUK INTAN, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) is encouraging private developers to allocate land to the government for the construction of houses under the People's Residency Programme (PRR).
Minister Nga Kor Ming said a study would be carried out to determine the suitability of land offered by developers for PRR projects.
“We are opening this opportunity to private housing developers, not only the state government. The government is ready to accept land offered by any interested developers.
“The technical team will assess the land and its location. If suitable, we will implement the PRR project there,” he said after officiating the PR1MA Teluk Intan Town Project and Sales Gallery here today.
Nga added that the ministry had previously received 32 parcels of land free of charge through cooperation with state governments.
“In the past, the ministry had to buy land and pay premiums, leaving no funds to build quality houses. Our new policy now encourages a win-win formula,” he said.
He said KPKT had also set that from this year, all PRR projects would adopt an integrated development concept incorporating various facilities for the people.
Meanwhile, Nga said the first PRR in Perak, expected to be launched at the end of this year, would be built in Tambun with an allocation of about RM150 million.
He said the PRR project would feature various attractive designs, which would be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Tambun Member of Parliament.
“That is our target; to launch the first PRR in Perak, in Tambun, by year-end, followed by Teluk Intan, step by step.
“The PRR price is RM60,000 per unit outside town, while projects within urban areas will be offered on a rental basis,” he said.
In the meantime, Nga said the PR1MA Teluk Intan Townhouse Project recorded an encouraging response, with all units in Phase 1A-1 booked within two weeks of the selection exercise.
It is PR1MA’s first integrated townhouse project, with a gross development value of RM103 million.
PR1MA Teluk Intan Townhouse Phase 1A-1, comprising 86 single-storey terrace units, will be developed on 39 acres of land and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2028.
