KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysian cuisine has been recognised as the most popular choice among visitors to Expo 2025 Osaka after coming out tops in a special Expo Gourmet survey carried out by major Japanese broadcaster, Yomiuri TV.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz described the recognition as a significant achievement, especially since the evaluation was carried out among Expo regulars who had sampled various international dishes.

"This achievement is very meaningful because the survey was conducted among holders of season passes to the Expo, so they always enjoy various types of dishes at the Expo.

"This is proof of the uniqueness and excellence of Malaysian food and hospitality in the eyes of the world,” he posted on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Australia took second place while Saudi Arabia, Germany and France tied for third.

Tengku Zafrul also expressed his appreciation to the entire Pavilion Malaysia team for their dedication and commitment to ensuring the country's successful participation at the prestigious exposition.

Interestingly, Tengku Zafrul said that over 1,500 pieces of roti canai are sold daily at Pavilion Malaysia throughout the expo.

"Although it is priced at RM50 a piece, many are willing to queue up for up to two hours just to taste our roti canai,” he said.

In addition to offering unique local cuisine, Pavilion Malaysia, which features a bamboo facade inspired by songket, also showcases the country's cultural diversity through artistic performances.

"Pavilion Malaysia has attracted over 2.2 million visitors, far exceeding the original target of 1.5 million visitors, and managed to generate potential investments valued at over RM11 billion,” he said.
