KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan on the sidelines of the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In a post on the X platform, Dar said both sides expressed firm solidarity with Palestine and deep concern over the situation in Gaza.
“We emphasised the urgent need for unhindered humanitarian access and a permanent ceasefire to pave the way for lasting peace,” he said via his official X account @MIshaqDar50.
The emergency OIC meeting, convened in response to ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, aims to coordinate member states' positions and responses to the crisis.
The organisation, which represents 57 Muslim-majority nations, has historically positioned itself as a defender of Palestinian rights and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
Dar also recalled Malaysia’s successful hosting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) ministerial meeting in Kuala Lumpur last month and his engagements with the Malaysian leadership.
“We reaffirmed our commitment to further strengthening our close brotherly relations through high-level exchanges, expanding trade and economic ties, and promoting people-to-people contacts,” he said.
