KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- National top mixed doubles duo Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei rallied from a shaky start to clear past Indonesia’s Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu and punched their ticket to the World Championships 2025 quarter-finals in Paris today.
The world number four Tang Jie-Ee Wei had to dig deep for 66 minutes before snatching 14-21, 21-19, 21-17 and claimed their third consecutive victories against Jafar-Felisha, this time at the Adidas Arena.
Next up for Tang Jie-Ee Wei is Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Cristo after the Indian duo also recovered from a game down to dispatch Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong, 19-21, 21-12, 21-15.
Earlier, another national mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin pulled off an upset over seasoned and professional pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie 13-21, 23-21, 21-17 in a 55-minute all-Malaysian affair.
A mammoth task awaits the world number 16 pair tomorrow as they will take on world number two duo from China Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin, who cruised past Jesper Toft-Amalie Magelund of Denmark 21-15, 21-11.
