PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was seen giving a thumbs-up after the festive staging of the 2025 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya today.
Shortly after the departure of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, the King and Queen of Malaysia, Anwar spent about five minutes meeting parade participants and members of the public who remained at the venue.
On the ‘human graphic’ stage, Anwar expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all those involved in making this year’s celebration a success.
“I’m proud of you. This is the best performance in Malaysia’s history. Do study hard,” he said.
Themed “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni”, the celebration was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, along with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who chairs the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) celebration main committee.
A total of 81 contingents, comprising 14,062 participants, participated in the parade, including 21 marching bands, seven decorated floats, 508 assets from the Malaysian Army and the Royal Malaysian Air Force, as well as 116 service animals.
This year’s celebration drew more than 100,000 people, who thronged Dataran Putrajaya since last night.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Anwar said that he was deeply moved by the various performances featured during today’s National Day event.
"…captivating and instilled with values of unity, togetherness, and patriotism, the performances were warmly received by the throngs of people who filled every corner of Dataran Putrajaya since early morning.
“May this spirit of unity continue to be preserved and strengthened for the sake of a harmonious, prosperous, and competitive future for Malaysia,” he said.
Anwar said Malaysia will only continue to advance when all citizens move forward together as one big family, valuing differences and celebrating similarities.
Anwar, accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, welcomed the arrival of Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah, King and Queen of Malaysia, at the National Day 2025 parade.
