SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government today launched the State Solid Waste and Public Cleaning Master Plan (PISPPANS) 2024-2033 to, among others, ensure a more structured solid waste management.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the master plan also serves as a vital step by the state government to ensure a more sustainable and effective solid waste management, in line with its aspirations for a clean, sustainable and liveable state.
"With the 5R (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover) approach, the development of Level 4 Sanitary Landfills, as well as the implementation of Waste-to-Energy projects, Selangor will continue to drive sustainable initiatives that not only protect the environment but also enhance the people's well-being.
"Not only that, awareness is also crucial, where the public needs to be educated about how to properly handle waste and how to separate solid waste at the source,” he posted on Facebook.
The launch was held at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah here, and it was also attended by state Local Government and Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Ng Suee Lim.
Amirudin said that through joint efforts, Selangor will not only continue to be a developed state, but also a truly comfortable and liveable state for everyone.
