Student Fabricates Kidnapping Story To Skip School

11/09/2025 08:51 PM

SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Police confirmed that the alleged attempted kidnapping of a secondary school student here, which went viral on social media today, is not true.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said investigations revealed that the 13-year-old boy had fabricated the story to skip school.

He said that they had received a report lodged by the student at 9.22 am today claiming that he was nearly abducted while walking to school.

"Investigations revealed that the student had informed his 37-year-old father about the matter before both of them came to the Shah Alam district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division to provide statements on the alleged abduction.

"During questioning, it was found that the report made by the student was totally untrue," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Iqbal also said that the student admitted to making the police report as an excuse for his father, as he did not want to attend school because his shoes had been soiled by cat faeces.

The investigation was not pursued further since the student is still in school, however, a stern warning was issued to both the student and his father regarding the false report.

"The case has been closed, and the victim's father has withdrawn the police report after being informed of the actual incident," he added.

Mohd Iqbal advised the public not to lodge false reports, as offenders may be probed under Section 182 of the Penal Code and face imprisonment of up to six months, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
