BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has suggested that the eligibility conditions for the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) be reviewed, so that recipients who enjoy salary increments will still qualify for the aid.
He said that although the individuals’ income had increased, some may still require continued support from the government.
"I also take note that there are recipients who previously received STR, but because they are working and have a salary increase, the STR (eligibility) limit (needs to be reviewed).
"… perhaps, I want to propose to the Finance Ministry to review (the matter) since we have seen that there are salary increments,” he told reporters after visiting two families under the Ziarah Kasih Komuniti MADANI programme in Kubang Semang here today.
Also present were Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Information Department director-general Julina Johan.
Earlier, Fahmi visited disabled teenager, Arnisya Roslan, 14, and 42-year-old Yusnizam Mohammed Yusop, who suffers from diabetes.
The Ziarah Kasih Komuniti MADANI programme is a government initiative to assist those in need and to understand the problems they face.
