BINTULU, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- The 2025 Malaysia Day Run held at the grounds of Dewan Suarah Bintulu this morning attracted about 3,000 participants.

They were flagged off by the Sarawak Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, who is also the Minister in Charge of the state-level 2025 Malaysia Day celebration.

Before the six-kilometre run began, the participants and guests took part in an aerobics session to warm up.

The run is one of the highlights of the state-level 2025 Malaysia Day celebration, which will culminate tonight.

The participation of various communities in the event added to the excitement of the celebration, as well as reflected the spirit of unity of Malaysia Day.

Meanwhile, a Thanksgiving Ceremony in conjunction with the state-level Malaysia Day celebration was held at the Assyakirin Mosque here last night and was attended by Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The ceremony began with the congregational Maghrib prayer led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

The programme continued with the recitation of Surah Yasin, zikir marhaban by the Gabungan Kumpulan Zikir Bahagian Bintulu, and a thanksgiving prayer for Sarawak and Malaysia to be continually blessed with prosperity and well-being.

Attendees then performed the congregational Isyak prayer.

The ceremony not only strengthened ties between the people and their leaders but also stood as a symbol of unity in pursuing balanced development, while safeguarding harmony, the very foundation of Sarawak’s strength in contributing to Malaysia’s progress.
