Angkasa Strengthens Regional Cooperative Network Via International Training

25/09/2025 04:17 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) continues to strengthen regional cooperative networks via the organisation of the second series of the International Cooperative Training, from Sept 23 to 26.

The programme brings together 36 delegates from ministries, agencies and cooperative leaders across the Asia-Pacific region, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Palestine, Thailand and Vietnam.

Angkasa president and ASEAN Co-operative Organisation (ACO) president Datuk Seri Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the programme reflects Angkasa's commitment to bolstering regional cooperative solidarity, following the success of the first series in 2023, which saw participation from countries such as the Philippines, Cambodia and Nigeria.

“This training series is aimed at promoting and strengthening the cooperative identity based on sustainable governance and development, while emphasising the values of democracy, equality, solidarity and community care,” he said in a statement today.

He said that through the sharing of success stories and the exchange of experiences from mosque congregation cooperatives, agricultural and plantation cooperatives, as well as school cooperatives, the training programme will pave the way for new innovations in building the participants’ confidence.

The training also provides an opportunity for cooperative representatives to gain deeper insights into Angkasa’s operations, including its Computerised Management System (SPBA), Salary Deduction System (e-SPGA), school cooperatives, mosque congregation cooperatives, Yayasan Infaq ANGKASA, Islamic finance, Shariah compliance and the cooperative identity concept.

Participants also have the chance to visit Masjid Al-Hasanah Bangi Berhad, Koperasi Bersatu Maju Hulu Chuchoh (KOBEMAH) and cooperatives in the agriculture sector.

Abdul Fattah, who is also vice-president (VP) of the International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP), said Angkasa is confident that the spirit of collaboration fostered through the International Cooperative Training will continue to strengthen cooperative identity, nurture lifelong learning, and enhance the knowledge and skills of future professional cooperative leaders.

Also present were Angkasa deputy president Associate Professor Datuk Dr Haji Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak Shaik, VP Datuk Mohamad Ali Hasan, and VP and ICA board member Datuk Kamarudin Ismail.
