KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaya (UM) has urged underprivileged students who receive admission offers not to reject the opportunity, as various forms of assistance are available through the Student Affairs Department.
In a statement today, UM said it took note of a social media post involving a candidate who declined an offer to enrol in the university’s undergraduate programme due to being unable to pay the admission fee.
“Universiti Malaya expresses sympathy with the situation faced by the applicant and will provide assistance to ensure no one misses out on pursuing higher education.
“Successful applicants who cannot afford the costs are advised to contact 03-7967 7750 or email srw_hep@um.edu.my for more information on the types and methods of assistance available,” the statement said.
UM also stressed that admission offer letters can be generated by candidates themselves without any charge, and reiterated its commitment to ensuring that access to world-class higher education remains open to all, in support of the nation’s progress.
