ALOR GAJAH, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- The Melaka government has allocated RM30,000 to three district police headquarters in the state to support retired police officers and the families of police personnel.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said each headquarters - Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin, will receive RM10,000 to assist those requiring aid.

“The funds are intended to help retired police officers in need and provide help to the children of serving personnel,” he said during a community luncheon held in conjunction with a joint programme between the state government and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at Villa D’Acqua, Masjid Tanah, here today.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Melaka deputy police chief Datuk Md Nazri Nawawi were also present.

Earlier, Razarudin and Ab Rauf spent over an hour visiting three families and police retirees in Masjid Tanah, delivering aid and extending moral support.

One of the recipients, Siti Hafidah Bache, 58, the widow of the late Sgt Major (Rtd) Ibrahim Jaafar, expressed her heartfelt thanks and surprise at receiving a visit from Razarudin and Ab Rauf.

She said her late husband had long wished to meet Razarudin but, tragically passed away on Dec 4 before fulfilling that hope.

“My husband had expressed his wish to meet the IGP after learning about Tan Sri (Razarudin)’s planned visit to Masjid Tanah for this programme.

“Sadly, his wish was unfulfilled as he succumbed to lymphoma after three weeks of illness earlier this month. I am truly touched by Tan Sri’s thoughtfulness in visiting my family, even in my husband’s absence,” she said.
