Ewon Visits CG Global, In Support Of Export Expansion

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Ewon Benedick today made an official working visit to a contract manufacturing company (OEM) CG Global Profastex Manufacturing Sdn Bhd at Taman Perindustrian Perai, here.

He said the visit, which is aimed at supporting the company's expansion into the international market and increase the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), demonstrated the government's commitment to strengthening the country's entrepreneurial sector.

"Through this visit, we can identify several suitable assistance opportunities for the purpose of expanding the company in terms of business potential and competence.

"I hope that the assistance and support of the ministry and its agencies can help increase the size of the company from small to medium and subsequently contribute to the target of increasing the percentage of medium-sized companies by five per cent by 2027," he said in a statement today.

In this regard, he said SME Corp Malaysia, SME Bank and Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS) will detail entrepreneurship programmes and financing schemes that are suitable for the company.

He said it is the aspiration of the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP) to help drive continuous success thus boosting the performance of SME entrepreneurs in the country.

Ewon also informed that the visit to the factory was also a follow-up to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to the company in December.

On Dec 7, Anwar visited CG Global Profastex Manufacturing Sdn Bhd and saw the factory operations, which is a small and medium enterprise (SME) company owned by a woman Bumiputera and the only one carrying out electronics manufacturing activities in Seberang Perai Tengah.

Established in 2016, the company, which has 70 employees made up entirely of locals, always opens up job opportunities for graduates to gain experience in the electronics field, in addition to collaborating with various educational institutions by offering training and industry visits.

KUSKOP through SME Corp and SME Bank has since 2018 provided support and assistance to CG Global Company, which has SME status, in terms of increasing automation and market access to the international level.

In the Enterprise 50 (E50) Awards 2024, the company finished in 15th place and was also recognised as the E50 Best Export Entrepreneur of the Year 2024.
