Hi Taylor, Look What You Made Me Do

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- If global music superstar Taylor Swift can pull off a highly successful The Eras Tour, why can’t Danish shuttler Viktor Axelsen?

The two-time Olympic Games men’s singles gold medallist added a touch of showbiz glitz to the 2025 Malaysia Open badminton championships through a meet-and-greet session on the sidelines of the season opener outside the Axiata Arena here today.

But what’s catching everyone’s attention is the event's poster, which is pretty similar to Taylor’s recent iconic concert tour poster.

The colourful design, which features a series of the mighty Dane’s poses from his illustrious badminton career, mirrored the multi-era concept of ‘Tay Tay’s’ stardom journey.

The 31-year-old Axelsen also donned a black t-shirt that featured a similar design on the poster of his tour, aptly called ‘Busy Chasing Dreams Victory World Tour 2010-2024’, on the front and a list of his remarkable achievements at the back.

Despite a downpour, hundreds of fans gathered for the opportunity to meet their idol and many managed to snap pictures as well as get his autograph.

Twenty-two-year-old private college student Siti Syazwani Kamaruzzaman was starstruck meeting the former world number one.

“Is Axelsen secretly a ‘Swiftie’? I really love the poster design. It’s so cool,” she said.

Even though frustrated at Axelsen's early exited early from the Super 1000 tournament, another fan Loh Yet Hong, 31, said the two-time world champion was lovely to interact with.

“I have always been to the Malaysia Open to support him from the stands but this is the closest that I can see him,” he said.

The fourth-seeded Axelsen, also a two-time Malaysia Open champion, suffered a shock opening-round 17-21 13-21 loss to the unseeded Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong in 38 minutes on Tuesday (Jan 7).

Axelsen will return to action at the 2025 India Open in New Delhi (Jan 14-19), where he is set to face Chi Yu-Jen of Taiwan in the first round of the Super 750 tournament.
