NILAI, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- National track cyclist Muhammad Ridwan Sahrom has set his sights on becoming the country's sprint king after successfully proving his excellent performance in the sprint event in the President's Cup Series Two and Three at the National Velodrome here.
Muhammad Ridwan, who is more affectionately known as 'Boy', said he wants to make a difference by making the event his favourite and feels it has the potential to be the place for him to create surprises in the future.
At the President's Cup Series Three action today, Boy won the gold medal in the men's elite sprint event, leaving behind Australian rider Sam Gallagher with the silver while the bronze went to his teammate Mohd Akmal Nazimi Jusena.
More excitingly, he also renewed his personal record when he clocked 9.921 seconds (s) in the qualifying round, which gave him new enthusiasm to chase the title of the country's sprint king.
"I want to make a difference because we have keirin experts like Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom.
"I want to do something different. I want to focus on sprinting because I think this is the best platform which I see as good for me," he said when met by reporters after the championship here today.
In the First Series, Boy only won a bronze medal in the sprint event while the Second Series saw him grab the gold.
