SCEKL25: China’s Shengzhiyuan Targets Malaysian Market With Smart Traffic Solutions

15/09/2025 07:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- China’s Shengzhiyuan Intelligent Technology Co Ltd aims to capitalise on the upcoming Smart City Expo KL 2025 (SCEKL25), scheduled at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from Sept 17-19, as a launchpad into the broader Malaysian market.

Its chairman Mashui Kang said the company has successfully addressed traffic challenges in Zhengzhou, a city of millions of people, through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Through its local arm, SZY Smart Traffic Technology Sdn Bhd, the firm is now focusing on Malaysia to provide AI-powered solutions aimed at reducing congestion and enhancing traffic management through real-time decision-making.

“We are confident our technology can be adapted to Malaysia, drawing from Zhengzhou’s transformation and backed by over 200 patents from our research and development (R&D) efforts and an annual revenue of two to three billion yuan (one yuan = RM0.59).

“While each city has unique challenges, our modular approach — combining perception, analysis, decision and execution — allows us to customise solutions for local needs,” he told a press conference here today.

Kang added that the company is ready to present its smart city proposals to the government and stakeholders, tailored to their scale and requirements.

He also said Shengzhiyuan plans to establish its first overseas manufacturing facility in Malaysia.

Shengzhiyuan specialises in four domains: intelligent transportation via advanced traffic controls and vehicle-road coordination, intelligent lighting, intelligent security through high-performance surveillance and e-policing, and intelligent environmental protection using data-driven monitoring.

Meanwhile, its chief executive officer Qingguo Kang highlighted the company’s achievements in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, where upgrading 1,717 traffic signal controllers improved traffic efficiency by 16-30 per cent and reduced delays by 17 per cent.

“Our green wave coordination cut traffic stops by 30 per cent, while our smart lighting project lowered energy consumption by 60 per cent and reduced fault response time from 24 hours to two hours,” he said, emphasising that cities worldwide face mounting challenges such as congestion, energy overuse and environmental stress.

He added that an integrated approach offers scalable, modular solutions adaptable for Southeast Asian cities, from megacities like Kuala Lumpur to smaller hubs.
