KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Selangor FC beat Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC 1-0 at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya today for their fourth consecutive victory in the 2024/2025 Super League, consolidating their second spot in the league table.
The match began with both teams cautiously planning their attacks, but Selangor were more dominant, with captain Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim playing a sterling role. Their best opportunity of the first half came in the 30th minute when Alvin Mateus Fortes delivered a pass to Quentin Cheng, but the chance was squandered amid a chaotic situation.
KL City nearly broke the deadlock before halftime when Kenny Pallraj Davaragi latched onto a brilliant pass from Zhafri Yahya, but the home side’s goalkeeper, Kalamullah Al-Hafiz Mat Rowi, made an excellent save to deny them.
In the second half, Selangor played more aggressively, with Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi making an immediate impact after coming in as a substitute in the 58th minute. His assist to Fortes in the 63rd minute led to the only goal of the match.
KL City came close to equalising through Muhammad Haqimi Azim Rosli, who orchestrated several attacking moves, including a golden opportunity to set up Jovan Motika, but their efforts fell short until the final whistle.
