KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) – Defending champions, India hits the highest total in the 2025 women’s under-19 (U-19) T20 World Cup, as they beat Scotland by 150 runs at the Bayuemas Oval in Klang, today.
The Super Six Group 1 match saw the inaugural edition winners score 208 runs, losing just one wicket, while the Scots were bowled out in 14.0 overs after 58 runs, according to the tournament website.
The victory was mainly contributed by the sensational opening partnership between G. Kamalini and Trisha Gongadi. The duo set a new record for the highest partnership in the 2025 World Cup with 147 runs.
Trisha then became the first player to hit a century in the tournament with 110 runs (not out), and also downed three wickets in the second innings to be named Player of the Match.
The highest total record in the women’s U-19 T20 World Cup is India’s 219-run victory against United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 2023 edition.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat West Indies by 10 wickets to be placed third with four points below India (8 points) and Australia (6 points).
Meanwhile, South Africa claimed the top spot in the Super Six Group 2 after their fixture against the United States of America (USA) was called off due to rain at the Borneo Cricket Ground, Sarawak.
South Africa (7 points) and England (6 points) advanced to the semi-finals as top two in the group, while the Super Six Group 1 final standings will be known after tomorrow’s matches, though India and Australia had already secured semi-finals spot.
Nigeria is set to face Ireland, while Australia will take on Sri Lanka at the UKM Cricket Oval, Bangi.
