Be Vigilant Against Fake Links, Social Media Accounts That Misuse Bank Islam's Brand - COO

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (Bank Islam) reminded the public to always be vigilant against fake links and social media accounts that misuse Bank Islam's brand and photos for fraudulent purposes.

In a statement, Bank Islam Group Chief Operating Officer Mohamed Iran Moriff Mohd Shariff said all campaigns organised by the company were only promoted through Bank Islam's official channels.

"Bank Islam has always prioritised data security and customer interests. We will not ask for personal or sensitive customer information such as account numbers, passwords, or one-time password codes (OTPs) through the website or social media accounts for any campaign run.

"In fact, the promotions on the campaign are only carried out on Bank Islam's official websites, therefore, we urge the public to be more vigilant and not easily be deceived by the cunning tactics of irresponsible groups," he said in a statement today.

In this regard, he asked the public to always ensure the validity of information before taking the next step.

All official information related to campaigns, promotions, or banking products, he said, will only be broadcast through official channels, namely Bank Islam's official website at its www.bankislam.com links and official social media, namely Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad's Facebook page, bankislam's Instagram and X myBankIslam as well as Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad's LinkedIn.

At the same time, users are also advised to protect themselves from becoming victims by being cautious of clickable links, always logging in to their banking accounts through Bank Islam's official website, keeping a close eye on website links before proceeding with banking activities.

In addition, they also need to ensure the correct security image and word before entering the password, he said.
