“Most of the seized drugs were syabu and yaba pills, which are easily obtained at low prices compared to other types of drugs,” he said at the Terengganu Police Contingent’s monthly assembly here today.
Mohd Khairi said the number of drug-related arrests also increased from 10,327 people in 2023 to 11,893 people last year.
“This includes the arrest of 56 drug traffickers under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 in 2024,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said 1,330 commercial crime cases with losses totalling RM42.06 million were also recorded last year, an increase of 7.51 per cent from 1,237 cases with losses of RM33.76 million reported in 2023.
He added that the number of arrests in commercial crime cases also increased to 742 in 2024 from 710 in 2023.
