Negeri Sembilan Confident Of Achieving 20 Mln Tourist Target In 2025

SEREMBAN, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan government is optimistic that it will achieve its target of 20 million tourist arrivals this year, supported by 86 activities and events outlined in the state’s 2025 Calendar of Events (COE).

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the three key tourism clusters prioritised this year are beach-related events (60 per cent), eco-tourism (30 per cent), as well as heritage, tradition, and culture (10 per cent), all of which are expected to draw tourist interest.

He said the increase from 51 events in 2024 to 86 this year further demonstrates the state government’s commitment to intensifying efforts in promoting Visit Negeri Sembilan Year 2026.

“Based on the reports received, in January alone, approximately one million tourists visited Port Dickson. If that figure can be maintained every month, we could reach 12 million visitors in a year, and that’s just for one location.

“Tourists don’t just visit the beaches in Negeri Sembilan, they also travel to Kuala Pilah, Lenggeng, and other districts, each offering unique attractions. While many of our visitors are domestic tourists, we are also focusing on attracting international visitors,” he told reporters after launching the Negeri Sembilan COE here, today.

Aminuddin said key events planned for this year include NS Fest, Pesta Bola Ngoca, the Trans Naning Ultra NS Challenge 2024, Tampin MTB Jamboree, the Petronas Cub Prix Championship, Port Dickson Mega Food Festival 2025, Kayuhan Merdeka Jelajah N9, and the Visit N9 Amazing Race.

At the same time, he said COE serves as a platform to enhance existing tourism products while introducing new attractions to further increase domestic and international tourist arrivals.

Meanwhile, when asked whether the leprosy cases in Kampung Chergun and Kampung Guntur, Kuala Pilah, would affect tourism, Aminuddin said the public need not worry as the situation is under control and the two villages are far from tourism hotspots.

“There is no need for concern. The affected villages are far from major tourist destinations, and the Ministry of Health has taken the necessary steps to ensure the situation remains under control,” he said.

On a separate development, Aminuddin confirmed that relevant authorities, including the Department of Veterinary Services and the Department of Environment, have conducted monitoring and taken appropriate action following residents’ complaints about the illegal processing of pig carcasses in Kampung Baru Site A, Port Dickson.
