JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 4 (Bernama) – The outstanding success of Felda Johor residents in winning 11 awards at the Felda Settlement Excellence Awards (AKRF) 2024 is a manifestation of the state government's commitment to empowering rural communities, especially Felda settlers.
This proud achievement was celebrated at the Settlers’ Appreciation Ceremony in conjunction with the Felda Settlers' Day & 3-Dimension Mega Carnival 2025 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur, recently, with Felda Bukit Easter in Kota Tinggi crowned the overall champion of AKRF 2024.
Johor Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Datuk Zahari Sarip said the success was the result of the hard work and determination of Felda Johor residents in striving for excellence across various fields, including innovation, entrepreneurship, community development and farm sustainability.
“This achievement proves that the Felda Johor community is not only relevant but can also serve as a model for other states in terms of rural development,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page.
In addition to the main award, Felda Bukit Easter also won several other accolades, including the award for the Best Oil Palm Performance, Innovation and Excitement, and the Highest Waqf Contribution.
Meanwhile, the Special Award for Mosque & Spirituality was won by Felda Adela, Youth and Community by Felda Lok Heng Timur and Sustainable Oil Palm Plantation (Felda Bukit Tenggaroh 7), while the Felda Entrepreneur Award (Off-Plan Category) was won by Mohd Asyraf Nor Akmal from Felda Pasak.
Other recipients included Mak ET from Felda Sri Ledang for the Felda Entrepreneur Award (Business Category) and Felda Lok Heng Timur leader Sa’adan Sairi for the Tokoh Jawatankuasa Permuafakatan, Produktiviti dan Kualiti.
In another development, Zahari welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the RM100,000 incentive to every Felda Settlement to strengthen the economic activities of the local community.
"This fund is a catalyst for more sustainable development programmes and to increase the income of settlers. We will ensure that this initiative is fully utilised at the grassroots level," he said
