Raising Children Right Key To Better Future — Wan Azizah

SHAH ALAM, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Building a better tomorrow starts with how children are raised today, said the Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

She said that alongside rapid technological advancement, challenges in strengthening the family institution have evolved, requiring greater awareness from all.

“Technology has changed how we live, work and communicate. Without proper guidance, it can create distance, weaken relationships and even pose risks to children and the elderly,” she said at the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of the All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA) here today.

Also present were National Unity Deputy Minister K. Saraswathy, Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia B. N. Reddy, AMMA patron Tan Sri Ravindran Menon and AMMA president Dr Manohur Kurup.

Dr Wan Azizah reminded parents that no matter how busy they are, the family remains a child’s first school and most important institution.

“Building a better tomorrow begins with how we raise our children today and it starts at home. In whatever circumstances, we must always prioritise family,” she said.

She commended AMMA’s strong support system for the younger generation and the community, saying it sets an excellent example for others.

Since its establishment, she said, AMMA has nurtured academic excellence, built integrity and character, and empowered citizens ready to contribute to the nation.

“This is the true essence of Malaysia MADANI, building a caring, inclusive society grounded in noble values,” she said.

At the event, Dr Wan Azizah presented awards to AMMA leaders for their dedicated service over the association’s 50-year history.
