KUCHING, Aug 10 (Bernama) — Three youth leaders from Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) will represent the state’s high-impact projects at the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum (ASUF) Youth Assembly 2025, taking place from Aug 10 to 15 in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement today, AZAM Sarawak said the three representatives from its Young Souls (AYS) wing, comprising AYS president Theron Then Kai Yuan, secretary Muhammad Shahrizan and executive committee member Micheal Larry, will present on topics such as environmental conservation, digital innovation, and inclusive youth governance models.

“AZAM Sarawak is proud to continue its leadership in youth empowerment and participatory communication, further asserting its role as a strategic partner at this prestigious forum,” the statement said.

The forum, organised by URBANICE Malaysia under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), serves as a platform for regional dialogue on sustainable urbanisation.

This invitation to AZAM Sarawak reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development within the ASEAN region.

“Through this platform, AZAM will bring the voices and aspirations of Sarawak’s youth to the regional stage, reinforcing our mission to bridge local impact with global change,” the statement added.

Leading the delegation, AZAM Sarawak manager of strategic communication Mohd Hassnal Hakim said the collaboration is essential in amplifying Sarawak’s role in ASEAN's sustainability efforts.

“By showcasing AZAM’s grassroots initiatives, such as green enterprises and digital empowerment, we are demonstrating that youth are not just leaders of tomorrow, but solution-drivers today,” he said.

As a strategic partner, AZAM Sarawak's role strengthens the state's growing influence in regional sustainable development efforts.

“It positions AYS as a benchmark for youth-led innovation, inspiring regional policies and solidifying Sarawak’s role as a progressive model for sustainable urbanisation,” the statement read.
