LONDON, Aug 19 (Bernama-QNA) -- Amnesty International accused the Israeli occupation on Monday of pursuing a "deliberate" starvation policy in Gaza, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
The organisation warned, in a report prepared for the United Nations and non-governmental organisations, that the Gaza Strip is on the brink of imminent famine.
After interviewing 19 displaced Palestinians and two medical personnel treating malnourished children, the organisation stated that "Israel is carrying out a deliberate campaign of starvation in the occupied Gaza Strip, systematically destroying the health, well-being and social fabric of Palestinian life."
The organisation explained that the testimonies it collected confirm that "the deliberate outcome of plans and policies designed and implemented by Israel over the past 22 months deliberately imposed on Palestinians in Gaza living conditions calculated to lead to their physical destruction."
It added that this is part of the ongoing genocide being carried out by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza.
Last April, Amnesty International accused Israel of committing "genocide since October 7, 2023."
