ISKANDAR PUTERI, July 22 (Bernama) -- The mother of a six-year-old girl who was reported missing from a shopping mall here last Saturday, appealed to the public to stop spreading inaccurate information about her child as it was hampering police investigation.

Leo Qieo Xin, 37, who has been at the shopping mall since the incident, said she was very worried about the safety of her third child of four siblings and said she would remain at the location of the disappearance until her daughter is found.

“I am very angry and disappointed when there are many inaccurate reports relating to the disappearance of my child. Please stop... I am very sad about this incident, I have no appetite because I am too worried,” she said when met at the location where the child went missing here today.

The incident is understood to have happened during the Bon Odori festival which ended yesterday with Leo Qieo Xin manning a drinks stall at the festival.

Meanwhile, a Bernama check at the shopping mall found the police K9 Unit deploying two tracking dogs, along with personnel, to locate the missing child.

It was also business as usual at the mall with shops open for customers.

Meanwhile, some parties, through various social media platforms, are offering rewards of up to RM50,000 to the public who manage to find the child.

Yesterday, Iskandar Puteri police chief ACP M Kumarasan reportedly asked for the public's help in locating the child, Albertine Leo Jia Hui, who was noticed missing by her father at the shopping mall at about 8.30 pm on Saturday.

Kumarasan was quoted as saying that the child was 120 centimetres tall, has long black hair, fair skin and moderately slim, wearing shorts and a white t-shirt with a picture of 'Mickey Mouse'.
