KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The national men’s indoor hockey team’s desire to register their first win at the 2025 Men's FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Porec, Croatia continued to be dashed when they lost to Argentina 2-6 in the fourth to 12th place classification match today.

Today’s loss at Zatika Sport Centre is the team’s second at the hands of the Argentinians after their first defeat in their Group B match on Tuesday.

Argentina took the lead first in today’s match, scoring their first goal in the last minute of the first quarter through a penalty stroke by Joaquin Gonzalez, and then scored three field goals in the second quarter, through Gaston Rodriguez (13th minute), Facundo Navarro (15th minute) and Santiago Moron (16th).

In the third quarter, Rodriguez scored again, before Malaysia finally got their first goal through Muhammad Ashran Hamsani in the 25th minute. Malaysia scored their second goal in the final quarter, through Muhammad Izham Azhar in the 39th minute, but Argentina was not finished, scoring their sixth and final goal through Juan Eleicegui in the final minute of the match.

The national team will now play in the 11th to 12th classification match.
