Floods: Sarawak Cleared, Sabah Evacuees Drop

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14  (Bernama) -- Floodwaters in Sarawak have completely receded with the closure of the last two temporary relief centres in Miri, while the number of evacuees in Sabah continues to decline.

In SARAWAK, the Beluru Community Hall and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bakong Beluru relief centres were closed at 5 pm,  after all 202 evacuees were allowed to return home.

Meanwhile, in SABAH, the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported a drop in flood victims in Kinabatangan, with numbers decreasing from 107 people (29 families) at 4 pm to 84 people (21 families) at 8 pm.

"Only one relief centre remains operational in Kinabatangan," the committee said.
