PUTRAJAYA, March 10 (Bernama) -- The National Unity Ministry (KPN) has identified 21 potential locations across 14 states for the development of social and physical spaces aimed at strengthening community ties.

In a statement today, KPN said the initiative includes proposed projects such as open halls, children’s playgrounds, gazebos, green spaces, sports activity centres, centralised community hubs, community libraries, and walking tracks.

“These physical and social spaces will serve as inclusive engagement hubs, fostering interaction among residents from diverse backgrounds to promote sustainable social harmony.

“In addition to strengthening community bonds, these spaces also support strategic collaboration between local communities, academia, government agencies, the private sector, and non-governmental organisations,” KPN said.

The statement was issued following the first Ministerial Meeting on National Unity (MExUnity) for 2025, chaired by KPN Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang. The meeting brought together state executive councillors for Unity and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs to discuss key unity-driven initiatives.

KPN also outlined efforts to strengthen Rukun Tetangga Areas (KRT) in 2024, with 152 Rukun Tetangga designated as progressive community leaders—exceeding the initial target of 116.

To further support local communities, the ministry is developing KRT Mart, a digital platform aimed at expanding market access for KRT products through a user-friendly mobile app.

The meeting also addressed several key issues, including the legalisation of 584 unity-related land premises, grassroots unity management, and preparations for the 2025 National Unity Week celebrations.

MExUnity serves as a platform for the National Unity Minister and state executive councillors to coordinate and implement unity-based programmes at both national and state levels.
