KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) has called on companies to make use of local technology and expertise in preparation for the challenges of Industry 4.0.
Chief executive officer of MTDC Datuk Norhalim Yunus said Malaysia has expertise in various fields, but are still untapped.
He added that the setting up of Myedtech Community is enabling local skills and technology to be obtained at a lower cost.
"This will enable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to move from Industry 2.0 and Industry 3.0,” he said at a press conference after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MTDC and Myedtech Community, here, today.
"Myedtech Community also acts as a collaborative platform between the academic sector and industries in producing graduates and local technopreneurs with the potential to develop Industry 4.0," said Norhalim.
Under the MoU, MTDC will also enable companies, notably SMEs, to use existing technologies for their production processes and services besides developing labour expertise.
Myedtech Community comprises 21 companies linking the network of joint ventures between entrepreneurs, researchers, academics and industry experts
