MTDC TO OPEN IR4.0 ENTREPRENEUR CENTRE IN SABAH

22/04/2019 01:40 PM

KOTA KINABALU, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) plans to open another entrepreneur centre based on Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) in Sabah, bringing the total number of such centres nationwide to six by year-end.

Chief executive officer Datuk Norhalim Yunus said the centre aims to link up with all the other centres as part of efforts to promote the adoption of IR4.0 in the state.

“MTDC wants to cooperate with any entrepreneur group to develop a place where people can come and learn about any of the nine pillars of IR4.0.

The six centres would be able to  contribute their expertise in areas such as robotics, services and cyber security, he told reporters after launching the ‘MTDC Road2Growth 2019’ roadshow here today.

“If we want to grow our industry, we need to redevelop all ecosystems, we need to have product suppliers from within our own state, and we need to collaborate within the industry itself,” he said.

He said the six centres comprise Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM-MTDC), while the five to be created are Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM-MTDC) in Johor Bahru, as well as in Penang, Terengganu, Sarawak and Sabah.

Sabah is the fourth stop for the roadshow after Penang, Johor Bahru and Kuantan before visiting Kuching on April 25-26.
