IGEM 2019 targets business leads worth RM2.8 bln

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Bernama) -- The 10th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2019 to be held from Oct 9 to 11 here is targeting green economy business leads worth RM2.8 billion.

At least 35 countries are expected to participate in the event.

Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climatic Change Deputy Minister Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis said with more than 350 exhibitors and 35,000 expected global visitors, IGEM offered a one-of-a-kind showcase hub for ground-breaking green technologies and products.

“It offers trade visitors a platform to explore lucrative eco-business opportunities and forge strategic partnerships through business matching programmes,” she said at the IGEM 2019 soft launch at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, today.

Isnaraissah said the primary objective of IGEM was to be the gateway to ASEAN’s thriving green technology market and thereby power the growth of green cities across the region.

Themed ‘Innovating Sustainability’, IGEM 2019 would explore the integration modes between green economy solutions and its application to the aim of achieving sustainable development goals for various global industries, she added.

IGEM 2019 will focus on highlighting innovations in the five key sectors of green technology, encompassing renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste technology and management, as well as green financing and green manufacturing. 

Some of the issues that will be discussed during the 3-day event are river pollution, working together to end plastic waste, driving towards cleaner air and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
