GEORGE TOWN, July 13 (Bernama) -- Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) expects its estimated economic impact (EEI) value to increase by another 30 per cent this year following its success in raking in RM1.3 billion in value last year.

Chief executive officer G Ashwin said its expectation of achieving about RM1.69 billion from the business events organised this year was based on the significant growth in value it had obtained since its establishment in 2016.

“We are also looking forward to increase the number of business events, delegates and room nights by 10 per cent next year,” he said to reporters after the launch of PCEB’s “Penang 2020: Be Unfiltered” campaign by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow last night.

The campaign was launched in conjunction with the Experience Penang Year 2020 state tourism campaign.

He said in conjunction with its campaign, PCEB would launch its mobile application, privileges and incentives packages for international business events, a corporate social responsibility programme and a strategic partnership with Malaysia Airlines.
