Perak Perikatan Nasional presents MB candidate list to Sultan Nazrin

IPOH, March 12 -- Perak Perikatan Nasional, comprising Umno, PAS and Bersatu, has submitted three names to Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah to be considered for the Menteri Besar post.

They are State Umno Liaison chief Datuk Saarani Mohamad; Perak Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and State PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria.

All three names were submitted by the parties’ respective state chiefs themselves to Sultan Nazrin at Istana Kinta today.

Speaking to reporters later, Ahmad Faizal said the letter dated March 11 also expressed all three leaders’ commitment to support any name that the Perak Ruler decides on.  

“We advise the people to be patient and be calm while waiting for the Sultan of Perak’s decision with regard to the Menteri Besar position.

"A thank you to the media too who have been waiting for more than two weeks for this (political) drama in Perak (to be over),” Ahmad Faizal said, while also urging the media to continue their acquaintanceship with him even if he was no longer the Menteri Besar.

Ahmad Faizal said when he was granted an audience with Sultan Nazrin today, the State Ruler had voiced out his wish for politicians to keep the people’s interests and the stability of the state, and also their safety and health, at heart.  

On Tuesday, Sultan Nazrin Shah accepted  Ahmad Faizal’s resignation as the 12th Perak Menteri Besar, this after the Pakatan Harapan government which he led after the 14th general election collapsed.

The day before that, Ahmad Faizal announced that Perak Perikatan Nasional had the support of 32 of the 59 assemblymen to form the new state government.
