KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 -- Melaka midfielder, Romel Morales believes the Movement Control Order (MCO) imposed by the Malaysian government at the moment is the best measure to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The 22-year-old player said despite missing his family in Colombia, he acknowledged that he must obey the guidelines by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) which does not allow any foreign players in the Malaysian League (M-League) from leaving the country during the enforcement of MCO from March 18 to 31.
“I feel what the Malaysian government is doing right now is for the best interest of all parties.
“In this regard, I have to accept that I have to be far away from my family although it is very tough for me. At the moment, I am staying with my friends at home in Melaka and I hope everything would return to normal as soon as possible,” he was quoted as saying in the statement issued by MFL today.
Meanwhile, Morales also said be believed that the MFL’s decision to impose three points deduction serves as the learning lesson for the team to always take care of the wellbeing of their players.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had recently docked three points from Melaka following the team’s failure to settle salary arrears of their players.
