PUTRAJAYA, Jan 29 --The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) will explore and expand online initiatives this year in a move to provide fast and efficient delivery system to the society.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, said she hoped that this year, various online initiatives would continue to be explored, among others in figuring out the best method to inform the delivery of aid notifications to recipients via mobile phones quickly, efficiently and accurately.

She said efforts towards digital transformation needed to be stepped up to ensure the society and the ministry’s staff could adapt to changes in working under the new norms.

"My advice to all ministry staff to continue to cultivate a strong work ethic and be able to adapt to the new work norms without affecting the quality of the service delivery," she said in her annual address via the ministry’s Facebook page today.

She said the ministry will continue with various initiatives by improving existing programmes, as well as introducing new programmes this year.

Rina said the Kembara Prihatin Negara programme,  launched on Nov 1 last year, has benefited 124,423 individuals and attracted 40 corporate sectors, 91 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and 1,372 volunteers to become strategic partners.

"Since its launch until last Jan 25, a total of 532 programmes have been implemented nationwide through outreach programmes that provide mobile services by bringing together all agencies under the ministry under one umbrella," she said.

On the increase in social cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially those involving children, she said, there was a need to increase the number of Protection Officers and Moral Officers in JKM.

She said the ministry had submitted an application to appoint 1,122 Grade S29 Assistant Community Development Officers on contract to the Finance Ministry.
