AID TO PALESTINIAN PEOPLE BEING INTENSIFIED THROUGH MUS’ADAH 3.0 PROGRAMME - ZULKIFLI

KUALA LUMPUR June 5 --The distribution of aid to Palestinians in Malaysia and those in Palestine will be intensified under the Mus'adah 3.0 programme, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

He said the religious agencies under his ministry have so far managed to raise RM3,328,502 since the Mus'adah 3.0 programme started on June 1, adding that among the agencies were the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) which had raised RM60,829, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) (RM2,129,000), the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) (RM333,355). and Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) (RM500,000). 

Other agencies namely Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) raised RM130,000, Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM) (RM120,100), Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (RM20,000), Wakaf, Zakat and Haj Department (JAWHAR) ( RM25,218) and Al Hijrah Media Corporation (TV Alhijrah) (RM10,000).

Zulkifli said the Mus'adah 3.0 aid distribution started yesterday with the distribution of RM550,000 aid and food packs from JAWI Food Bank, YaPEIM and YADIM to 1,100 Palestinian families in Malaysia as well as RM20,000 cash aid to the Palestinian Embassy in Malaysia.

“Cash aid of RM2,000 cash as well as food packs were also handed over to two Palestinian families in Malaysia in the asnaf category and RM1 million was presented to cover tuition fees for Palestinian and Syrian students' at five public universities including International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Malaya (UM), ”he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Zulkifli said a total of RM522 million was distributed to 10 target groups nationwide under the Mus'adah 1.0 and 2.0 programmes.

"The aid under Musa'adah 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 is to complement the government’s assistance   and economic stimulus packages totalling RM340 billion.

“The assistance were in the form of cash, business funds, skills training, food bank, ready-to-eat food, health endowment (ICU beds and equipment, ventilators and other home medical equipment), repair and house building projects, laptop assistance and so forth,” he added.
