CYBERVIEW'S RENT-RELIEF INCENTIVE BENEFITS 95 COMPANIES

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16  -- Ninety-five companies have benefitted from the rent-relief incentive provided by Cyberview Sdn Bhd, which involves a total of about RM1.5 million in relief in the form of rental moratorium and discounts.

The technology hub developer of Cyberjaya said the incentive, introduced in April last year, offers affected businesses rent relief of up to six months.

“Through this incentive, affected SMEs are offered customised solutions according to their needs,” it said in a statement today.

The rent-relief incentive is one of several incentives the company has created together with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and TalentCorp since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide immediate and impactful assistance to businesses in Cyberjaya.

Other incentives include business and investment as well as talent development incentives.

On the National Recovery Plan announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday, Cyberview managing director Najib Ibrahim said the plan is viable and achievable but every party must play their part in the next several months.

“While livelihoods are at stake due to economic slowdowns, it is very critical that strong measures are taken to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. To expect to return to normalcy within the next year or two, all parties must work together .

“We must acknowledge that the only exit for recovery is by achieving herd immunity and we are pleased to see the national immunisation programme ramping up by the day,” he said.

He urged all Malaysians to stay patient and do their part for the country to regain its footing.

On the business and investment incentives, Cyberview said that 11 fiscal incentives have been made available to businesses through a partnership with MIDA, including tax savings.

“These incentives have the potential to drive growth of a receiving company that indirectly translates to more job creation and opportunities as we restart the economy in full force,” he said.

Regarding talent development incentives, he said the Structured Internship Programme (SIP) is among a string of initiatives to be implemented, made possible by Cyberview’s collaboration with TalentCorp, which is available for companies located in Cyberjaya.

Najib said under the SIP, eligible companies will benefit from a double tax deduction incentive.

“Additionally, these companies are also given access to a database of available talent, enabling them to directly source for internship candidates through a quicker and more efficient process,” he said.
