KOTA BHARU, Sept 20 -- It’s win or bust for Kelantan FC when they take on Selangor FC II in their final Premier League match at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here tomorrow in their bid to earn a ticket to the Malaysia Cup competition.
Kelantan FC are involved in a tense four-way battle for the last three spots from the Premier League for the prestigious Malaysia Cup. The other three teams are PDRM FC, Kelantan United and Kuching City FC.
As things stand right now, PDRM have 26 points from 19 matches, followed by Kuching City FC (24pts, 18 matches); Kelantan FC (24pts, 19 matches); and Kelantan United (20pts, 18 matches).
Knowing what is at stake, Kelantan FC assistant head coach Rezal Zambery Yahya said his team have been focusing on strengthening their defence and sharpening their attack.
“In attack, we will be trying out a new combination as some of the key players are still out injured.
“We have to win to qualify (for the Malaysia Cup) and not depend on the outcome of other matches,” he said when contacted today.
Five teams from the Premier League, minus the feeder clubs, will qualify for the Malaysia Cup and, so far, Negeri Sembilan FC and Sarawak United FC have already checked in.
