ALOR SETAR, Dec 16 -- Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC have almost finalised their squad for the Malaysia League (M-League) and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup competitions next season.
KDA FC chief executive officer Kamal Idris Ali said they were in the final stages of negotiations to sign up several new faces to strengthen the Red Eagles squad.
“Our squad are almost complete now, except for one or two more players where final negotiations are going on.
“As for the one or two still being negotiated, we have ample time to settle the matter as registration of players only closes at the end of January,” he told reporters after attending the 46th Kedah Football Association Congress here today.
He said KDA FC had signed up several experienced players to strengthen the team for next season, especially for their AFC Cup campaign.
“Some people asked why we decided to change all five imported players. The reason is we want players who have tasted success in the AFC Cup,” he added.
KDA FC have announced the signing of South Korean defender Jang Suk-Won and Ivory Coast midfielder Dechi Marcel N'Guessan as their imports for next season.
Kamal Idris said they were also in talks with Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) to get the services of national striker Syafiq Ahmad on loan.
“I have spoken with Syafiq and he has expressed his desire to play for KDA FC. Negotiations are going smoothly, InsyaAllah Syafiq will be with us next season,” he said.
