DUBAI, Jan 10 -- The involvement of Malaysia in Expo 2020 Dubai is the manifestation of the government’s commitment to revive the country’s economy from the economic pressure of post-COVID-19 pandemic, said Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said the country’s participation in the expo could open up new investment opportunities to stimulate the national economy especially in terms of the digital economy.
“I hope with Malaysia seen in the expo would further expand our business networking with the international communities as well as providing opportunities to the Communications and Multimedia Ministry via the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to open the doors of investment and business opportunities.
"...I have also requested the Malaysian Business Council here as well as from other countries to jointly assist our country by giving their views and support, (this) is in line with the spirit of the Malaysian Family,” he said when speaking at a Dinner with Malaysian Diaspora which was attended by 50 Malaysians here today.
Annuar is scheduled to launched the Malaysian Digital Economy Week in conjunction with Expo 2020 Dubai on Jan 12 (Wednesday).
In line with the aspiration to make Malaysia as a Digital Nomad Hub of choice in the region, the programme was introduced in Budget 2022.
Annuar is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama as well as embarking on a working visit to Dubai Media City on Jan 13 (Thursday).
MDEC is targeting to attract investments worth more than RM300 million as well as 50 eligible prospective businesses during the Malaysia Digital Economy Week from January 9 to 15 in Expo 2020 Dubai.
From 9 to Jan 15, MDEC will be leading a delegation of 20 Malaysian companies to Expo 2020 Dubai as part of the Malaysia Digital Economy Week.
