PUTRAJAYA, June 10 (Bernama) -- Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud has been appointed as the new Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president cum chairman for a period of two years effective June 1.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim, in announcing the new appointment, said Fadlun, 55, replaces Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain who was appointed Lands and Mines Director-General that took effect on Dec 15, 2021.
Prior to his new appointment, Fadlun was PPj Senior Vice President (Corporate Services).
His appointment as the President and the seventh PPj Chairman was in line with paragraph 5(1)(a) of the Perbadanan Putrajaya Act 1995 (Act 536), he said in a statement today.
Shahidan said 22 years of experience at PPj gave Fadlun the advantage to helm PPj based on his knowledge and skills capacity, in addition to in-depth experience related to city management and planning policy in Putrajaya.
“I believe that the experience, leadership ability and credibility that he posses would enable him to lead Putrajaya Corporation to continue to excel towards achieving Putrajaya as a World Class Sustainable Administration City," he said.
Shahidan also expressed his appreciation and thanks for the contribution, excellence and service of Muhammad Azmi throughout his service as the president cum chairman of PPj from Oct 1, 2020 to Dec 15, 2021.
Meanwhile, Fadlun who was present at the special press conference, said he would be focussing on several issues upon his appointment.
Among them is to expedite the construction of 10,000 affordable homes in Putrajaya following an increasing demand for such housing.
"We have identified ten sites and we will speed up construction. After holding discussions, we will be having a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 2,500 units of affordable homes by the end of the month,” he said.
Besides that, Fadlun said PPj's desire to make Putrajaya a "Youth Friendly City’ can be achieved by organising youth-related activities including the development of 'Soccer City’ which will see the construction of a football stadium, a national football training centre, and a community field located in Precinct 4.
