'Make Halal Your Top Choice' campaign hoped to increase country's halal exports - Jalaluddin

KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- The 'Make Halal Your Top Choice' campaign is hoped to increase the country's halal exports, besides attracting more direct investment into the halal industry and creating quality employment opportunities for Malaysians.

Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the campaign was aimed at helping local entrepreneurs - especially from micro, small and medium enterprises (PMKS) that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic - increase sales of their products.

“The three-month campaign which began at the end of April will not only help the PMKS industry, but in fact, also encourage Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) consumers to choose halal products.

“The Ministry of Federal Territories welcomes such a campaign and urges more hypermarkets, supermarkets or any outlets located in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan to compete healthily in conducting a campaign to sell such halal goods," he said in a statement today.

The ‘Make Halal Your Top Choice’ campaign is a collaboration between Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store and Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) which is one of the agencies under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).

The campaign under Budget 2022 involves a combination of two programmes, namely to improve the marketability of halal products produced by PMKS and the digital branding of halal PMKS products.
