KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) to explore various new fields and technologies in developing more effective and environmentally friendly water assets.

PAAB chief executive officer Abdul Hadi Ali said the MoU would enable PAAB and its appointed consultants to gain access to NAHRIM data on water resources, analysis on the effects of climate change and laboratory facilities to conduct modeling experiments.

“It is able to assist PAAB engineering consultants to conduct studies and design a water asset development project, especially inlets and water treatment plants (LRA).

“We will also explore several areas of specialisation, namely ground water extraction and treatment technology as an alternative raw water source as well as data sharing on the quality of raw water resources for the sustainability of the national water industry,” he told Bernama after the MoU signing ceremony here today.

Abdul Hadi said the cooperation between the two agencies also enabled the latest ideas and innovations to be introduced, especially the design of infrastructure for the development of new water assets.

“PAAB is confident that this MoU also has the potential to improve the Water Asset Value Enhancement (WAVE) initiative, a research and development programme introduced in 2017,” he said.

PAAB, a wholly owned company under the Minister of Finance Incorporated plays an important role in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and exploring areas of environmentally friendly processing technologies by taking into account the impacts of climate change on the design and location of an LRA.
