UBON RATCHATHANI (Thailand), July 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia are hoping to snatch a draw with defending champions Thailand in the ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2022 tomorrow to enhance their chances of qualifying for the football final.
National coach Ridzuan Abu Shah reckoned that getting a point from the match at University of Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat Stadium would be sufficient to make the final in the tournament held in a league format.
“We are aware Thailand are hard to match as they are the defending champions.
"They also enjoy home-ground advantage. However, I am not ruling out the possibility of Malaysia creating an upset in the match,” he said when met today.
Ridzuan said he might make some changes to the team when playing Thailand.
Malaysia are now second in the standings with three points, behind Thailand on goal difference.
Malaysia beat Myanmar 2-1 in their opening match.
The top two finishers will play in the final for gold.
