KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Taiwan's Baseball5 squad emerged champions of the inaugural Baseball5 Asia Cup after coming from behind to defeat Japan 2-1 in the final at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel Grand Ballroom here today.
Japan started out well by winning the first match 3-2 in the first match, but allowed Taiwan back in the game when they won the second match 4-2.
Taiwan then confirmed their status as champions by winning the decider 12-9.
Earlier, South Korea clinched the bronze medal after defeating Hong Kong 2-0 in the third-place match.
The top three teams, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, will fill the Asian zone slots in the 2022 Baseball5 World Cup in Mexico from Nov 7 to 13.
Yesterday, the national squad finished fifth by beating Singapore 5-3 in the 'Super Round'.
