KOTA BHARU, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM), through Kumpulan MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative), is targetting more than 20,000 visitors to ‘RIUH SOKMO! Bersama Celcom’, the fourth edition of Kembara RIUH Keluarga Malaysia (KRKM) to be held from tomorrow (Sept 16) till Sunday (Sept 18) at the Ketereh District Council Mini Stadium here.

MyCreative group chief executive officer Junady Nawawi said the organising of the programme, which has received the cooperation of telecommunications provider Celcom, aims to empower activists, entrepreneurs as well as local creative industry practitioners throughout the country thus reflecting the government's concern and commitment towards restoring the creative industry following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme includes various community activities and creative workshops as well as cultural shows such as wayang kulit, dikir barat, rebana ubi, perahu kolek and silat tari.

"Until now, the KRKM programme has created about 3,000 job opportunities as well as supported a total of 1,803 artists and creative industry entrepreneurs nationwide," he said in a statement today.

Elaborating further, Junady said the KRKM programme is expected to create over 7,000 job opportunities and support more than 5,000 activists and local creative industry entrepreneurs in 14 locations nationwide as planned.

"KRKM that began early this year was originally concentrated on the Klang Valley but has been extended to Johor, Sabah, and Melaka in efforts to help artists who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The government's effort via MyCreative has proven successful in bringing together creative entrepreneurs and local art activists from 10 fields of the creative industry including music, performing arts, creative content, literature, design arts, and cultural and traditional arts implemented through strategic collaborations.

He said the government has recognised the creative industry as one of the high-impact strategic industries that has been given special focus in the 12th Malaysia Plan.

"The entire Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) in Kelantan and neighbouring states has been invited to attend and support entrepreneurs, local artists, and creative industry practitioners at 'RIUH SOKMO! Bersama Celcom'," he added.
