KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The National Sports Vision (VSN) 2030 which will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in conjunction with the National Sports Day (HSN) in Putrajaya this Saturday (Oct 8) has managed to gather more than 4,000 aspirations from Malaysians related to the country's sports.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) in a statement said that all these aspirations were collected through Kanvas Visi Sukan Negara 2030 (National Sports Vision 2030 Canvas) which was carried out from April 7 to November last year.

The statement said the canvas was implemented according to the concept of 'from community to community' which reflects the VSN2030 strategy envisioned by all Malaysians regardless of background.

"The engagement sessions held across the country encompassed 65 physical and online sessions that successfully attracted more than 8,000 participants and gathered more than 4,000 aspirations from all layers of Malaysians.

"The goal of VSN is for Malaysia to become a sporting nation that practices sports in an inclusive, fair and safe manner and is competitive in achieving excellence at the international level," said the statement.

The statement also listed the six core thrusts of VSN2030 which are a Sports Culture, Sporting Glory, Sports Industry, Talent Development, Sports Professionalism and Sports Hub.

For Sports Culture, it covers a broad perspective regarding the government's efforts to foster sportsmanship and an active lifestyle at all levels of society, involving three main strategy proposals, namely involvement and education, sports as an agent of unification and cooperation between communities.

Sporting glory, on the other hand, involves the development of high-performance and elite sports that focus on three target groups, namely athletes, coaches and support officials, for producing local champions on the international stage.

The Sports Industry thrust provides a specific and inclusive focus including the development of the sports industry ecosystem which is seen to be growing and has the potential to have a significant impact on the country's economic growth.

Talent Development focuses on providing an ecosystem to encourage the development of talent at all levels while Sports Professionalism covers several critical aspects in ensuring an efficient governance system from the level of community sports bodies up to the national level.

"The scope of the Sports Hub pillar includes aspects of increasing access and a governance structure that offers high quality facilities, services and expertise," said the statement.

KBS at the same time invites the public to visit the VSN2030 Pavilion thus livening up the HSN carnival at Dataran Istana Kehakiman, Putrajaya, this Saturday.
