43,123 entrepreneurs register for SPPP as at Oct 31 - Rosol

16/11/2022 05:08 PM

KUALA BERANG, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 43,123 entrepreneurs have registered under the Prihatin Business Registration Scheme (SPPP) initiative, from January 2021 until Oct 31, 2022, said Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Datuk Rosol Wahid.

He said that the number comprises 19,758 full-time students of institutions of higher learning (IPT), while another 23,365 are entrepreneurs from the B40 group.

The initiative has provided the groups with an opportunity to register their businesses legally with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), under the Registration of Businesses Act 1956, free of charge, he said.

“Owning a legal business entity will enable them to have access to a variety of facilities offered by the government, such as financial assistance, equipment, training and entrepreneurship guidance.

“A legitimate business will also allow them to obtain diverse assistances provided by government agencies, apart from giving customers the confidence to buy the services or products offered,” said Rosol to reporters, after officiating the east zone level Young Entrepreneur Programme 2022 (PUM22), here today.

Meanwhile, in his speech, Rosol expressed hope that early exposure to basic entrepreneurship skills will add value to IPT students, when faced with the challenge of intense competition for job opportunities.

“Due to the high number of those graduating from IPT, competition is definitely going to be stiff for job placements, or to fill available job vacancies, as hundreds of others will also be applying for the same positions.

“The answer to this problem is that graduates must equip themselves with whatever skills are offered by the government or any institution of higher learning, as these skills can guarantee better career opportunities, thus avoiding unemployment,” he added.
